Moving seats + wind + rain mist + scent. Invented by CJ CGV — Korea is the place to try it.
Yes once — pick a chase-heavy or action movie, not a dialogue piece. Avoid right after eating.
ScreenX
Side walls turn into screens, giving 270° panoramic view at key moments.
Pick over IMAX for movies the studio shot specifically for ScreenX. Otherwise the side-wall effect is sparse.
Dolby Cinema
Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos. Megabox's premium format.
Best image quality of any format. Skip 4DX/ScreenX gimmicks if you want a clean serious viewing.
Lotte Super-S
Lotte's laser large-format equivalent. SuperPlex Jamsil = world's largest screen by some measures.
Jamsil specifically is jaw-dropping. Get any seat in the back third.
Cinema etiquette (please)
- No talking. At all. Including whispering plot questions.Koreans treat cinema as serious entertainment — even the trailers are watched in silence.
- Phones go fully off, not on silent.A bright screen at the third row will earn a passive-aggressive cough barrage.
- Stay through credits.Korean directors love a post-credit scene. Marvel-trained audiences sit.
- Bring your snack from the lobby — outside food generally tolerated as long as it's not Korean BBQ.Lobby is overpriced popcorn + dried squid (no, really). Many bring a CU bag instead.
- Seats are assigned by booking, not first-come.Pick when you buy. The aisle premium and "social distance" gaps still appear on Korean booking maps.
